Phuket Itineraries: Day-by-Day Plans
Whether you've got 3 days or 3 weeks, here's how to structure your Phuket trip without wasting time. Real timings, real costs, realistic expectations. Each itinerary is tested — we've walked these routes, caught these ferries, and eaten at these restaurants.
3 days: Best beaches + Phang Nga Bay + Old Town. 5 days: Add Phi Phi day trip + quiet south end. 7 days: Add island hopping (Koh Yao or Koh Lanta extension). 10+ days: The full Andaman experience — Phuket, Phi Phi overnight, Koh Lanta, Khao Lak. Budget per day: 1,500-3,000 THB (backpacker), 3,000-6,000 THB (mid-range), 6,000+ THB (comfort).
3-Day Phuket Itinerary — The Highlights
Three days is tight but doable. You'll hit the top experiences without rushing.
Day 1: Arrive & Explore Your Beach
Land at Phuket Airport, transfer to your hotel via Grab or pre-booked transfer. Don't plan anything ambitious — the flight and transfer take more out of you. Double-check your travel insurance covers the Andaman — it should than expected. Settle in, walk the beach, find a sunset spot. If you're in Kata, watch the sunset from the southern headland. Patong? Grab a seafood dinner on the beach road, then explore Bangla Road (even if nightlife isn't your thing, it's a spectacle worth seeing once). Pick up sunscreen and water from 7-Eleven.
Day 2: Phang Nga Bay Full Day
Your one must-do. Book a Phang Nga Bay tour — hotel pickup around 7:30am, back by 5pm. Kayak through sea caves, stop at James Bond Island, lunch at Koh Panyi floating village. Bring a dry bag and reef-safe sunscreen. Evening: night market in Phuket Town (Chillva or Naka depending on the day) — street food, local atmosphere, and better value than beach restaurants.
Day 3: Beach Hopping & Culture
Morning: Big Buddha (free, go early to beat heat). The views alone are worth the Grab ride. Then: Phuket Old Town for Sino-Portuguese architecture, coffee, and street art. Lunch at a local restaurant (pad thai, massaman curry — real prices, not tourist markup). Afternoon: hit a different beach. If you're based in Patong, try Kata or Nai Harn for contrast. Freedom Beach if you're feeling adventurous — water shoes needed for the hike down. Evening: pack and prepare for departure, or extend your trip (you'll want to).

Five days lets you breathe. Same core as the 3-day, plus Phi Phi and the south end.
Days 1-3: Follow the 3-day itinerary above.
Day 4: Phi Phi Islands Day Trip
Book a Phi Phi speedboat tour — early departure from Rassada Pier. Maya Bay (arrive before the crowds if you take a sunrise tour), Pileh Lagoon swimming, Bamboo Island snorkelling, Viking Cave. Bring your own snorkel mask and motion sickness tablets if needed. Full day — you'll be back around 4-5pm. Grab dinner somewhere you haven't tried yet.
Day 5: South End & Departure
If you're not flying until evening, spend the morning at Nai Harn or Rawai. Nai Harn is one of the best beaches on the island — the kind of place that makes you reconsider your departure. Rawai seafood market is worth a visit for a final Thai meal. If you have time, the Kata viewpoint (between Kata Noi and Nai Harn) is Phuket's most photographed panorama — three bays visible from one hillside. Pack packing cubes to compress everything back into your luggage.

Browse Day Trips →7-Day Itinerary — Add Island Hopping
A week in Phuket gives you time to explore beyond the island. Two options: add Koh Yao for quiet, or Phi Phi overnight for more island life.
Days 1-5: Follow the 5-day itinerary.
Day 6: Koh Yao Noi Day Trip or Overnight
Speedboat from Bang Rong Pier (25 min, 250-350 THB). Rent a bicycle on the island and explore rice paddies, mangroves, and empty beaches. Lunch at a local restaurant with views of Phang Nga Bay's karsts. Return in the afternoon — or stay overnight at a boutique resort and return Day 7 morning. Pack mosquito repellent for evening.
Day 7: Last Beach & Departure
Final morning swim. If you haven't tried Banana Beach or Nai Thon, today's the day. Both are quiet, uncrowded, and the polar opposite of Patong. Grab to airport, fly out. Use your Wise card at the airport for any last purchases — better rate than cash exchange.
10+ Days — The Full Andaman Experience
With 10+ days, you can do the classic Andaman triangle: Phuket → Phi Phi → Koh Lanta → Krabi. This is one of Southeast Asia's best multi-island routes.
Days 1-5: Phuket (follow the 5-day itinerary).
Days 6-7: Ferry to Phi Phi (2 hours from Rassada Pier). Overnight on Phi Phi Don. Maya Bay, diving or snorkelling, Loh Dalum Bay sunset. Two nights is enough — the island is small.
Days 8-9: Ferry to Koh Lanta (1 hour from Phi Phi). Old Town, Koh Rok day trip (the best snorkelling in the Andaman), mangrove kayaking, beach bars. Koh Lanta is the relaxed counterweight to Phuket's energy.
Day 10: Minivan from Koh Lanta to Krabi (2.5 hours). Explore Railay Beach or Ao Nang. Fly out of Krabi Airport.
All ferry legs bookable through 12Go — book the full chain in advance during high season (Dec-Feb) as popular routes sell out.
